Now a bonafide hero of Time-in-training, Penelope is granted the ability to travel to the Fourth Dimension, a psychedelic landscape that dictates the very notion of the now - to prepare against the emerging threat of The Zeitgest; Penelope's ghastly precursor and one of Father Time's greatest failures.

Logline: The Current, the mystical manifestation of the Present, has become overrun with fourth-dimensional creatures, Trends: monstrous manifestations of the same forces Penelope struggles to keep up with. To save the Fourth Dimension, Past and Future activate a forbidden artifact, The Timepiece, granting one mortal access to their world. Penelope’s determination and optimism, in spite of her lack of expertise, drives the Timepiece to choose her as its new champion.

With the barrier between worlds temporarily broken - the Zeitgeist, a devious Fourth Dimensional spirit with the ability to control Trends, is released into our world.

SYNOPSIS:
In Now Presenting: Season 1, Penelope, a thoughtful teen with a love for cult classics and vintage finds, discovers her extraordinary destiny as the Avatar of the Present after an explosion shatters her family’s antique mantel clock. Transported to the surreal Timescape, Penelope is tasked with protecting the essence of "Now" from the destructive influence of the Zeitgeist, a tormented figure born from Father Time’s most ambitious and disastrous experiment.

Decades earlier, Father Time, seeking to give humanity control over the chaotic flow of the Present, imbued a mortal spirit with the timestream itself, naming him the Zeitgeist. But the experiment went tragically wrong: the infusion shattered the mortal’s consciousness, leaving his physical body entrenched in the banks of the Timescape’s currents, beyond recovery. His fragmented spirit, unable to move forward or return to his human form, lingered in the Timescape, feeding on cultural trends and obsessions. As society grew increasingly apathetic and distracted, the Zeitgeist amassed enough power to reconstitute himself into a new body formed entirely from corrupted Trends, transforming into the monstrous Timekiller.

Guided by Past and Future, the daughters of Father Time, Penelope learns to wield the Timepiece, a powerful artifact that connects her to the Present. Her journey is complicated by the growing influence of Timekiller, whose corrupted Trends spread chaos through both the Timescape and her world. She also faces a more personal challenge in Noel, her trend-obsessed school rival, who becomes the Novel, a "haunted" Avatar of the Zeitgeist. Novel’s powers represent the rapid, fleeting distractions of modern life, and her rise threatens to pull Penelope further away from her mission.

As Penelope uncovers the tragic origins of the Zeitgeist, she grapples with the immense responsibility of her role and the consequences of Father Time’s mistakes. In a climactic showdown, Penelope confronts Timekiller at the heart of the Timescape, using the Timepiece to sever his connection to the Trends and restore balance. Along the way, she frees Noel from Novel’s influence, offering her a chance at redemption. Despite this victory, the question of Father Time’s fate—and the fragility of the Present—remains unresolved, leaving Penelope with the weight of an unfinished battle.

Now Presenting (TIME) – Season 1
This season follows Penelope’s appointment as the Protector of the Current in the Timescape, aided by Past and Future as she struggles against shape-shifting Trends—cultural obsessions turned monstrous—and wrestles with her own familial memories.

Episode 1: “Now Presenting”

Conflict:
Teenager Penelope uncovers her hidden destiny when a strange glow appears in her bedroom. She is pulled into the Timescape—a cosmic realm split into Past, Present, and Future. Despite her expectations of guidance, Father Time reveals himself only briefly and then retreats into solitude, leaving Past and Future to train her in safeguarding the Current: the malleable thread reflecting real-world cultural movements.

Key Moments:

• Penelope attempts to orient herself in the Timescape, realizing the glowing thread of the Current is fraying under the influence of a new “Hype-Serpent,” spawned by fan rumors of a Common Cents reboot.

• Past and Future argue over how best to handle training Penelope; Past wants to show her “the good old ways,” while Future bombards her with possible catastrophes.

• Penelope compares Father Time’s aloof manner to her late father’s warmth, creating emotional tension for her early on.

Resolution:
Penelope manages—clumsily—to repel the Hype-Serpent, stabilizing a portion of the Current. She gains a shaky confidence in her new role but is left uneasy by Father Time’s disappearance and the daunting prospect of continuing without his direct mentorship.

Episode 2: “The Dunes of Yore”

Conflict:
Penelope follows Past into the Dunes of Yore, a windswept region littered with fragments of half-forgotten trends. A “Nostalgia Constrictor” forms here, feeding on renewed interest in retro fads and romanticized “better times,” threatening to suffocate the Current with old obsessions.

Key Moments:

• Past, initially excited to show off the “grandeur” of history, becomes unsettled when he realizes that ignoring or idealizing certain eras has created a breeding ground for toxic nostalgia.

• Penelope feels a pang of longing for her father’s presence as she sees how Past clings to comforting memories—just as she clings to her father’s.

• Future, stepping up in Father Time’s absence, insists on forging ahead, warning that if they don’t address these old issues, the Nostalgia Constrictor will multiply.

Resolution:
Penelope severs the Constrictor’s grip by acknowledging that the past can be both beautiful and flawed. Through her calm but determined intervention, the serpent’s hold on the Current loosens. Past realizes his role is not just to preserve history but to face it honestly.

Episode 3: “Echoes of the Zeitgeist”

Conflict:
A mysterious force, the Zeitgeist, manipulates petitions and conspiracy theories in the real world to spawn a “Conspiracy Python.” Citizens of the Timescape are ensnared by suspicion and blame—leading to chaos in the Current.

Key Moments:

• Penelope grows frustrated as she attempts to restore order without Father Time’s help. She confides in Past and Future about her father’s supportive nature, questioning why Father Time refuses to mentor her directly.

• The Conspiracy Python slithers from one end of the Current to the other, planting doubt among Timescape denizens. Even Past and Future start doubting each other’s methods.

• Hints of the Zeitgeist’s agenda appear in cryptic illusions, suggesting it may have once been an avatar of the Present gone astray.

Resolution:
Penelope risks losing an old memory shard of her father (involving a favorite scene from Common Cents) to break a mass “replay loop” of paranoia. This sacrifice re-stabilizes the Current for now. Past and Future realize the gravity of the Zeitgeist threat and vow to unite, albeit uneasily, to protect Penelope’s mission.

Episode 4: “The River Delta”

Conflict:
Future summons Penelope to the River Delta, a lush region of branching waterways that represent potential realities. An escalating fan debate—guessing wild storylines about the Common Cents reboot—creates a “Hypothydra,” each head a different rumor seeking to reshape the Current.

Key Moments:

• Penelope marvels at the River Delta’s breathtaking possibilities, but Future’s anxious approach to every “what if?” reveals how overwhelmed she is.

• The Hypothesis Hydra grows stronger with each new online rumor. Past, uncomfortable in such a forward-focused domain, reluctantly tries to help.

• Father Time is mentioned offhand; Future recalls his last visit years ago, when he withdrew deeper into solitude. Penelope laments the contrast between Father Time’s detachment and her father’s eagerness to engage in her interests.

Resolution:
Penelope discovers a method to redirect positive, constructive speculation back into the Current while dispelling toxic rumor energy into the River Delta’s unmanifested streams. The Hydra is dismantled, demonstrating the power of balanced optimism over fear.

Episode 5: “Lessons in the Current”

Conflict:
With hype for the Common Cents reboot peaking, a shape-shifting “Rumor Serpent” infiltrates the Current. The Timescape flickers between contradictory visions as fan arguments intensify. Past and Future’s tension flares again, each blaming the other for fueling controversies.

Key Moments:

• Penelope attempts a diplomatic approach: she tries weaving old and new story elements to pacify the serpent.

• Comedic chaos ensues when the Rumor Serpent morphs into a disco-themed dinosaur, referencing reemerging retro trends and futuristic speculation simultaneously.

• Throughout the pandemonium, Penelope reflects on her father’s supportive nature, contrasting it with Father Time’s continued absence. She questions whether she’s truly ready to protect the Current without a mentor’s direct guidance.

Resolution:
By using a creative fusion of historical nostalgia and forward-thinking ideas, Penelope disarms the Rumor Serpent, stabilizing the Timescape once more. Past and Future see the beginnings of genuine teamwork, though underlying tensions remain.

Episode 6: “Zeitgeist’s Lament”

Conflict:
The Zeitgeist reveals itself more openly, seizing on Penelope’s longing for fatherly guidance. It conjures illusions of a perfect, unchanging present—where her father never died and Common Cents remains untouched by reboots. Drawn by this vision, Penelope wrestles with her biggest temptation yet.

Key Moments:

• Flashbacks show how involved and encouraging Penelope’s father had been, making Father Time’s emotional distance more painful.

• Past and Future, left alone by Penelope’s hesitation, are forced to step up as mentors. Each realizes the importance of balancing memory and possibility for Penelope’s sake.

• The Zeitgeist’s personal history emerges: once the avatar of the Present, it sought to preserve a single “perfect moment” forever, only to become warped by stagnation.

Resolution:
Penelope chooses reality—acknowledging that genuine love honors the passage of time rather than stopping it. Rejecting the Zeitgeist’s false utopia, she damages its power. Though shaken, she gains clarity: imperfection makes each present moment precious.

Episode 7: “The New Now”

Conflict:
Enraged by Penelope’s defiance, the Zeitgeist unleashes a mega-Trendstorm—a volatile fusion of every serpent it has cultivated. The Timescape begins fracturing: the Dunes of Yore swirl up massive dust storms of old trends, and the River Delta overflows with frantic new possibilities.

Key Moments:

• Penelope, Past, and Future split up to contain different parts of the Trendstorm. Past quells old, festering obsessions in the Dunes, and Future channels out-of-control speculation in the Delta.

• Penelope stands in the center of the Current, weaving a final tapestry that merges the best of Past and the promise of Future.

• Father Time, briefly glimpsed on the sidelines, remains reclusive but subtly nods in approval—a silent acknowledgment of Penelope’s progress.

Resolution:
With Past and Future’s growing partnership, and Penelope’s firm resolve, the Trendstorm is neutralized. The Zeitgeist fades to the outskirts of the Timescape, wounded but not utterly destroyed. In the real world, people experience a brief moment of collective clarity—embracing evolution without forgetting what came before. Penelope, though missing the mentor she hoped Father Time would be, finds a new sense of fulfillment in protecting the Current. She honors her father’s memory by allowing the present to keep moving forward, hopeful for whatever comes next.

Season Overview

Throughout Season 1, Penelope’s journey evolves from uncertain teen to a self-assured Protector of the Current. Father Time’s reclusiveness contrasts starkly with her own father’s nurturing spirit, driving her to rely on Past and Future for guidance. In overcoming giant serpentine Trends—each representing a real-world cultural mania—Penelope discovers that progress is born from the tension between treasured history and uncharted possibility. The final stand against the Zeitgeist proves that no “perfect moment” should last forever; the true marvel lies in embracing the ever-shifting New Now. 

Penelope's 'sacrifice' didn't quite lend itself to the same fate as the Zeitgiest. While, like him,  she was imbued with the Timestream, her humility and acceptance of her fate allowed her entire form to travel to the very edge of the Dunes of Yore. While mere minutes have passed in our world, years worth of development has transpired within the Fourth Dimension.
